A rhythm-puzzle-platformer made for TOJam 2021: Feels Like a Re-run.

Controls
1 - Record Mode
2 - Playback Mode
Left Arrow/A - Move Left
Right Arrow/D - Move Right
Up/Space/W - Jump

Note: Make sure you calibrate the input lag (in the Settings Menu) for the best experience! If you aren't sure if you need to, try change it anyway and see if you notice any difference first!

About the Game
The theme of the jam was "Again with Feeling". This reminded me of dance studios where once you've run through the choreography once, you then had to do it again... with feeling! Though more often than not, 'feeling' felt like a whole other bunch of moves I had to try perform.

So in this game, you run through levels twice. Once in "Record Mode" and once in "Playback Mode".
In "Record Mode", you only have access to moving left and right. You're also safe from any harmful projectiles.
In "Playback Mode", your recorded actions (from the previous mode) are played back, and the only thing you can do is jump. But there's another catch, you have to jump on specific beats signaled by the music! (Also by the handy-dandy beat tracker at the bottom of the screen). You're also vulnerable to hazards in this mode so plan your moves carefully!

Closing Thoughts
Much like any game jam, I initially had a lot more plans for this but I'm still really happy with how it turned out! It's the first real rhythm game I've made and it's the first game jam I've done all on my own, with all of my own original assets too!
(Personal bonus points for it also being the first jam I didn't lose any sleep in!!!)
I gained a whole bunch of experience doing this and I'm excited to explore more!
